Two impressions that will always stay with me after visiting Gettysburg.

First was standing on the one main battlefield, looking out, and realizing that thousands of men went to horrible deaths in that peaceful place.

The other was standing outside of a church downtown. They had a historical marker explaining how the church was commandeered to be a hospital. And how no one could walk by the church because of the horrible screams coming from inside.
