Many years ago, Ancel Keys did research which said saturated fats cause cholesterol. The food pyramid was based on that research.

Now we know that he misread his own research. It takes saturated fats and...ta da...FRUCTOSE. We need saturated fats. We just do. We do NOT need fructose. Where is fructose? In corn syrup obviously. Fructose is half of table sugar, sucrose...

Now we know the relationship isn't just fructose: But the association between fats and fructose triggers the connection, and the premise is valid in the practical sense.

Personally I eat a LOT of saturated fats. And no sugars. My cholesterol? It ranges from a low fasting level of 140 to a normal daily level of 165 or so.
