I struggled with weight. At worst I was over 350 pounds. Dr Atkins saved my life. 150 pounds lost later, I look at the proliferation of fat-people commercials with an emotion that is hard to describe. It isn't particularly sympathy. Nor is it critical or condemning. It seems like a blend of concern, compassion, and the desire to shake sense into someone. The thing is, I fall under that cast-the-first-stone provision. I can imagine that it is similar to the post-alcoholic fascination?
