I have eaten a low-carb Mediterranean diet for the last 20 years. I have lost 154 pounds, and my bloodwork is perfect. At least if you ignore my cholesterol's being a little too low. My blood sugar is 85-95, 24/7. I can't properly describe how much these changes have made a positive difference in my life.
