I am really embarrassed to admit this, but I learned that the best way to fight my ADD was to focus on the other person in life. This morphed into copying speech patterns and habits. Even strangers in a grocery store. Everyone. Weirdest is that it expressed itself during sex as being hyper-focused on what I thought a woman wanted next. Sometimes you miss. Some women aren’t expressive. But most of the time, if a woman relates to you, it is easy.

This focus reaps HUGE rewards. Rewards in life itself? I have had detailed conversations with autistic people before. People I never knew were autistic until after the fact. In sex? It often catches women off balance to the extent that they will comment, “How the fuck did you know that?”

I’m not the expert. And I don’t have the hyperactive component of the equation. But I kept comparing my experiences to you and your husband and thought it was interesting.

Great piece as always. Thanks for writing.
