From a philosophical perspective, all that makes sense is that there is a fifth dimension. As time lets us move through our three-dimensional world, as though time were a fourth dimension? Maybe a fifth dimension moves us through time? Super-symmetry and all of that. There is some mathematical support for that, after all.
