As a Floridian, I grew up on fresh citrus juice. A quart at a time was not out of the question. To this day, come to my house and I will make you a mojito with fresh mint and key limes, both from the garden. (I would say Cuban rum, but there is better rum available. )

What happened to my love of fresh-squeezed citrus? Sugar. I avoid it like the plague.

BTW, there is a difference between fresh-squeezed from the store and from your garden. And there is something to be said about a developed resistance to microbes. Like raw milk. We oldsters who drank it as kids are MUCH more resistant to it that a novice would be.
